Maintaining your DTF printer to avoid costly break downs
Let's face it, when you are on a time crunch or just coasting through your day printing transfers, the last thing you want is ink starvation, miscolored prints, streaking in the prints, or no white ink. It's frustrating to say the least, and at some point, we all have been there with one of these or similar issues.
Issues slow us down and cost us valuable time and profits. Most issues can be avoided with proper maintenance of your machine, primarily at the head capping station.
Before beginning your day printing, always inspect and clean your cap seals and wiper blades, but also, the underside of the print head carriage. This often gets overlooked, but dried ink can build up over time on the carriage and ultimately drag across your prints, destroying your work.
To keep your print heads as clog free as possible and ensure a longer lifespan, we recommend changing your cap seals every 3 months (or any time cracks or damage is observed). When changing your cap seals, it is also suggested that you change your print head dampers. As dampers age, they can become less efficient, resulting in ink starvation, or lose their seal causing excess ink leakage.
Changing the cap seals and dampers every 3 months (or any time replacing a print head) is a fairly inexpensive and quick process that can save you time, breakdowns, and profit loss. Keeping up on maintenance of your equipment, will keep you productive and profitable.
Happy printing my friends!
